Old World - New World Wine Tasting Dinner
Aldwark Arms
23rd September 2010, £55
Our next wine tasting dinner will be on Thursday 23rd September with Champagne and canapés from 7.15 followed by a full tasting menu at 7.45.
Our theme for September is Old World – New World. Over the past couple of decades the French have been increasingly challenged by New World producers in Australasia and South America, who have often tailored their wine making to British and American palates. Since most of the main grape varietals used are the same in the Old World and the New, we will make some direct comparisons to gain more understanding of the differences. Scott Henderson from our wine merchant Halgarten Druitt will talk us through the two wines from each varietal that we will taste with each course.
Since wine is always at its best when accompanied by the right food, our menu has been designed to provide really good food matches for the wines we will be tasting. This time we’ve tried to make the wines affordable for anyone who wants to try them at home, and it has also enabled us to offer the event for the lower price of £55.
